People Trust Accountants
An accountant’s practising certificate is a very valuable asset. This was proved yet again in a recent survey, which showed that accountants are perceived as the most ethical and trustworthy of all financial professionals. The survey was conducted by Roy Morgan. You can read about the research here. This graph (sourced from Morgan Research) summarises the results:
Take a good look at this graph. 50% of adult Australians rate accountants as being high or very high for ethics and honesty. The only people who rated higher were health workers, members of the justice system or educators (with engineers an unusual outlier).
When it comes to clients and their money, accountants rate twice as highly as financial planners and five times more highly than insurance brokers and stock brokers. They also rate 60% more highly than lawyers.
If you are an accountant, this gives you a serious competitive advantage. Your clients are likely to come to you whenever they have any need for assistance in any aspect of their financial or legal management. You will be their first port of call.
This is why we established the Financial Planning Advocate program. To allow accountants to say ‘yes’ when approached by clients looking for financial planning advice. While few accountants can provide that advice themselves, there is nothing to stop an accountant facilitating having us provide this advice and retaining their role as their client’s most trusted advisor.
Our aim is to help you become and remain the first port of call whenever your client needs assistance. Start the conversation with us today.
